Who We Are Established at the turn of the century Chinley Junior Football Club competes in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League. Initially the idea was to provide a ‘kickabout’ for children at the park and away from the streets. On the first day a group of children ranging in age from 5 – 10 years turned up, since then the club has grown considerably and now runs teams in several age groups from U10's to U16's with more than 90 registered players. The commitment and enthusiasm of the players never ceases to amaze us and both training sessions and match days are always busy affairs. The club is run on a purely voluntary basis by a number of people who work with the players through all kinds of weather at training sessions, help to raise funds, manage the growing administration, washing dirty kit, building goalposts or turning up to lend vocal and moral support. As the players grow they move up to a new age group each year this continues until age 16/17 when we hope that they will continue to play and join the Chinley senior team playing in the Hope Valley League. Chinley JFC provides a great opportunity for people of any age to join in a village activity. We always need more people to help - you don’t need to be a qualified coach or even to have played football yourself. Enthusiasm and a willingness to brave the elements would be a good start. What we can offer you: Chinley JFC is a friendly club that prides itself on developing a positive approach to grassroots football despite limited resources. Unlike many of the teams we play against, we don’t have a large catchment area but we do have a commitment to providing a good quality, enjoyable activity for boys and girls and for putting Chinley on the football map. Our teams play at Chinley Youth Club, Buxworth Rec. and Chapel Leisure Centre and we are working with
the Parish Council to upgrade the Chinley site. This is an exciting time for Chinley Juniors – why not join us?
